Is your home life a little bit chaotic?
Do you find yourself wasting time looking for things that should be easy to find?
Do you then think, 'I really should do something about that?'
Good. Now's the time!

Being dis-organised is a frustration that many people share, but is definitely something that can be changed. It doesn’t mean that you’re lazy, and there are some great habits you can adopt to help you get your home life in order.
Take a look at these five top tips for getting organised at home.
1. Stop hanging on to junk
Part of the reason you’re always dealing with mess or struggle to find what you’re looking for is due to the unnecessary clutter in your home. Get stuck into a spring cleaning project and start decluttering your home. Get rid of any items that you no longer want or use and you’ll soon find you have much more space to make it easier to find the things you do want. Plus it feels bloody awesome, just ask Marie Kondo.
2. Keep a wall calendar
A wall calendar may seem like you’re taking organisation to the extreme, but it can actually be useful for helping you stay on track of everything. If you tend to forget appointments, birthdays and other special occasions, then plotting it all out on a wall chart that everyone in the family can see every morning will help you all become less forgetful. You can get some great designs too to suit any decor, so it still looks cute. #essential 😉
3. Keep emergency numbers on hand
Do you know exactly who to call when you've locked your keys in your car, your pet is sick or you need an affordable plumber? If you’re not likely to save these in your phone, get an address book that you can keep in the kitchen drawer for when you need them. There are some useful contacts that you’ll pick up over time that you might never find online, so it’s always worth keeping them somewhere safe on paper at home. (Then just take a pic on your phone and save to a folder named 'Emergency Numbers!')

4. Stay on top of your cleaning
It’s easy to let you chores slip, especially when you lead a busy life. Rather than waiting for everything to pile up, tackle tasks throughout the week. An hour of cleaning a couple of times a week and cleaning as you go will save you a lot of time over the weekend and means that your home is always in order. Set aside time for your spring cleaning projects to help you tackle those bigger cleaning jobs when your home needs them.
5. Write to-do lists
To-do lists are a great way to manage your ongoing set of chores. Whether you need to add things to your grocery list, have repairs you need to do around the home or have a list of things you want to change seasonally, keeping a checklist pad can help you become more organised. When you think of something that needs doing, add it to the list and be sure to keep the list somewhere visible so that you don’t forget to work through it. A magnetic one on the fridge is my lifesaver!
Getting organised takes a bit of practice and some willingness on your part to try and change your ways.
Instead of always making excuses, start finding ways you can get more organised at home and learn how to stay on top of things.
