Post Tarot Reading After Care to Enrich Your Spiritual Development Experience

After receiving a tarot reading, it's important to take some time for reflection and self-care. Here are my suggested after-care practices to help you have a truly transformational experience:

1. Reflect on the Reading:

Take a moment to reflect on the messages and insights you received during the reading. Consider how the cards relate to your current situation and emotions. Give yourself a few moments after your reading to absorb the experience, before rushing headlong into the next task, crowded or loud places, or intense situations. Try to just be, drink some water, and if you can add any of the following steps it will be even more beneficial.

2. Journaling:

Write down your thoughts and feelings in a journal or download the Hey Stella Post-Reading Worksheet that accompanies your completed order. Documenting your reactions and insights during and after can help you gain clarity and track your progress over time, especially if you use oracle cards as part of your own divination practice, or you make quarterly tarot readings part of your personal development. Setting new intentions, firming up existing manifestations, or noting profound affirmations or ideas that come to mind in this moment can be life altering.

3. Meditation and Contemplation:

Spending some time in quiet meditation or contemplation is important after-care as it allows for spirit, your higher self, guides, ancestors, and angels to speak directly to you. It helps you hone your intuition at a time where you are likely quite open to receiving. Allow the messages from the tarot reading that most resonate to sink in and connect with you on a deeper level.

4. Ground Yourself:

I always recommend my clients to engage in grounding activities such as spending time in nature, walking barefoot or sitting on grass or soil, diving under a wave, taking salt baths, or practicing mindfulness exercises. This helps you reconnect with the present moment and anchor the insights you gained. As a Reiki therapist, there is always a level of psychic surgery that can be transferred even via distance when I channel for you, so earthing will help alleviate mild light-headedness. Of course, seek medical treatment immediately if symptoms persist.

5. Self-Care Rituals:

Engage in self-care activities that bring you comfort and relaxation. This could include taking a warm bath, practicing yoga, or indulging in a favourite hobby. Sweating out what you need to release; processing the messages at a subconscious level through zoning out as you draw or paint; or even mirror work affirmations as an act of self-love during your skincare routine are all ways to care for self.

6. Discuss with a Trusted Friend:

Of course, your reading is yours to do with as you wish, so sharing your tarot reading experience with a trusted friend or confidant might reveal new relevance. Talking about your thoughts and feelings can provide additional perspectives and support, as well as ground the messages in the now by speaking them aloud. Likewise, keeping your reading experience to yourself may also be valid after-care if you know others would not be supportive of it. Allow it to simply be yours to treasure and utilise how you see fit.

7. Take Action (if necessary):

If the tarot reading suggested specific actions or changes in your life, consider how you can implement them, even if they are a little challenging (sometimes getting you out of your comfort zone is the whole point to growth). Taking small, manageable steps can help you move forward in a positive direction. If you’ve followed me for a while you know I’m a huge advocate of moving with your manifestations and choosing your own adventure…because YOUR LIFE IS YOUR ART and we are CO-CREATORS of it, not simply receptacles waiting for whatever comes our way.

8. Avoid Obsessive Over-Analysis:

While reflection is absolutely beneficial, try to avoid obsessive over-analysis of your reading. Trust the process and allow the insights to unfold naturally over time. Divine timing and surrender to control what you can and letting go of what you can’t is often a very normal challenge. It’s essential to remember at this point that we all have free will, including anyone else that presented their 5D/higher self intentions in the reading. They may or may not act on those intentions in the 3D world, and that is their own lesson, quest, or journey to have.

9. Follow-Up Questions (if needed):

If you have follow-up questions or need clarification on certain aspects of the reading that came through unexpectedly, it’s not taboo to book another reading with more specific or additional information for guidance on that particular path. It can be rare, but it does happen, and I’m of the opinion that this can be rather beneficial. Where it becomes necessary to pull back on readings, however, is if you feel a somewhat desperate attachment to a particular outcome, whilst not accepting or allowing the changes or growth you need to take accountability for, or for time to play it’s part in the revelation. If you feel this anxiousness rising within you, return to the grounding, journaling, self-care, and action steps above. Progress always ultimately feels better than procrastination.

10. Repeat Readings (if desired):

If you find the tarot reading particularly insightful, you may choose to revisit the recording at a later date. I always recommend giving it a few days at least, to allow the core points to marinate in your mind, body, and soul. You’ll often pick up suggestions or ideas you missed on the first listen. However, of course, avoid relying too heavily on playback in a short period, as it's essential to allow time for natural progression and change, as per the above.

Remember that tarot readings are a tool for self-reflection and guidance and are not guaranteed financial, health, or relationship advice. You must take full responsibility in seeking out professional assistance where needed, including therapy of all kinds. Tarot, oracle, and divination of all kinds can support therapy, but they do not replace it altogether.
Do the work.
Because that is the most important aspect of after-care - to integrate the insights into your life
in a way that feels authentic and empowering for you.
